Tarangire is a park of superlatives. One of Tanzania's best-kept secrets, it boasts one of the highest concentrations of elephants in all of Africa.

Herds numbering in the hundreds gather along the Tarangire River during the dry season. Dominating the horizon are ancient baobab trees—some over 1,000 years old—standing sentinel over the golden savannah.

Dry Season (Jun–Oct)
